COLLECTION AND MAINTENANCE OF WILD PARTRIDGES
The task and path of Perdices Altube is simply defined as: “we multiply wild partridges in captivity”. For this reason we pay a lot of attention to the origin of the partridges from which we breed.
Perdices Altube has leased estates with wild birds in different areas of Spain, areas with no released birds within a 20km radius. Every year we collect wild birds from these estates in order to supply with the genetic template needs.
The parents of our partridges are kept in various properties owned by the company, with a capacity of up to 80,000 pairs in total, selected among Palencia, Burgos and Guipuzcoa.
The partridge eggs are incubated in a specially designed room under strict health and biosafety conditions to ensure healthy, lively chicks.
BREADING AND REARING
We have 8 rearing facilities located around the Iberian Peninsula, ensuring a constant production in perfect sanitary conditions. All of these farms are in appropriate places and isolated from other farms.
Additionally, we have developed a food factory for our special and unique feed, using forages to provide our partridges with identical digestive system to those born in the wild. With this nutrition, our partridges will have a perfect adaptation and survival in any habitat, which will result in a quality hunting and strength in flight.
The birds are transported directly from the rearing centres to their destination, in the shortest time possible. We use our own fleet of modern vehicles, which are equipped with ventilation and humidity systems to guarantee the birds’ welfare with as little stress as possible.
Animals travel in two different types of packaging. One of them, made of recyclable cardboard with a unique design; and the other one, made of returnable plastic that is cleaned and disinfected after every use. Both of them show Perdices Altube logo.
RELEASE INTO THE NATURE
Our company guarantees the survival of released partridges, as long as the specified protocol under our direction is followed. Broadly, this protocol includes protection for partridges, healthy food and drinking water as well as predator control.
